GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC, CHEGUNTA
The Department of Technical Education in 2006 observed that the intake ratio of Diploma to Degree in Engineering is 1:6 which is contrary to the required ratio of 4:1 and hence is a cause of concern to the industries in getting qualified Technicians for employment. The lack of technical manpower is affecting their productivity.To augment the supply of more number of qualified Technicians to industries and with a view to provide opportinities to rural people to study Diploma courses, the Government have decided to establish more number of Government Polytechnics in rural areas with courses which are in demand and issued GO Ms. No. 85 Higher Education (TE-I) Department Dated 27-10-2012 according Administrative Sanction to start the Government Polytechnic at Chegunta, Medak (District) from the academic year 2014-15
Chegunta is 65 Km away from the capital city Hyderabad. Chegunta is located at 25 Km from Medak.

COURSES SANCTIONED AND INTAKE:
From the academic year 2014-15 the following two Diploma Courses were sanctioned with the annual intake as mentioned:
v Diploma in Mechanical Engineering .60
v Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering 60
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) & State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) approval:
o The AICTE, New Delhi has accorded approval for running 2 Diploma Courses viz., Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering with an sanction intake of 60 in each branch from the academic year 2014-15 and extended approval till the current academic year 2015-16.
o The SBTET is the affiliating body and the affiliation is up to date.
Importance of Polytechnic Education:
Number of engineering graduates are more than diploma engineers where as more opportunities are there for diploma engineers
More jobs for diploma engineers both in private, government and public sector organizations
Students can get admission in engineering 2nd year in top engineering colleges through ECET
Completion of graduation is easy through diploma stream as most of topics are studied in diploma level and will have strong technical subject command.

1. Processing Fee: Rs.300/- (OC/BC), Rs.150/-(SC/ST).
2. The Tuition Fee payable after allotment varies between Rs. 3800/- to Rs. 15500/- per annum depending on type of college allotted. The reimbursement of Tuition Fee in respect of all eligible candidates will be as per the orders issued by Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States from time to time.
3. However, all the candidates have to pay Rs 600/- towards TS-SBTET recognition fee as prescribed. Seats available under Convenor Quota College wise will be made available on the website tspolycet.nic.in well before the commencement of Option Entry.

TS POLYCET RESERVATION:
Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test For admission into the Diploma Courses like D. Pharmacy , Hotel Management and Catering Technology the entry qualification is 10 + 2 The applicants need not appear POLYCET for admission into these courses.
Reservation of Seats:Reservation of seats in favour of SC/ST/BC (A, B, C, D,E) Applicants shall be made in non- minority institutions as per the following percentages.
Open Competition-50%, SC – 15 % , ST – 6 % , BC – 29% (BC ‘A’ – 7%, BC ‘B’ – 10%, BC ‘C’ – 1%, BC ‘D’ – 7%,BC ‘E’-4%)
Reservation for Anglo Indians:
Two (2) seats are reserved in polytechnics in favour of the candidates belonging to the Anglo Indian community from the academic year 1994-95 onwards vide G.O.Ms. No. 173 Edn (TE-1) Dept. dated 15-6-1994. Candidates claiming reservation in Anglo Indian Community shall produce a community certificate issued by Revenue official not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar of their place of residence.
Reservation of seats for NCC, Sports and Games, Physically Challenged(Handicapped) and Children of Armed Personnel:
Horizontal reservation in each of the reservation category Open/SC/ST/BC to the extent of percentages mentioned is applicable.
National Cadet Corps [NCC]
Reservation to the extent of 1% shall be available for applicant of this category. The priority for consideration will be as per GO.Ms.No.21 HE (TE-1) Dept., Dt.13-05- 2002.
Reservation to the extent of 0.5% (½%) shall be available for applicants of this category. Certificates issued by various organizations constituted by Central / State Government to conduct the event will alone are considered under this category. The participation in games and Sports before the qualifying Examinations will only be considered. The priority under this Category will be fixed as per the rules in vogue at the time of admissions.
CAP [Children of Armed Personnel]
Reservation to the extent of 2% of the seats shall be available for the children of ex-servicemen and defence personnel including Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police.
