Government Polytechnic for Women, Nizamabad was established in 1985 at Kanteshwar, Nizamabad. The college initially functioned in Government Polytechnic Nizamabad and later shifted to a permanent building in 1996 to a spacious 6.55 acres campus. Since its initiation this college has been providing quality technical education in
3 different branches – ECE, CIVIL & PHARMACY.
The yearly intake of ECE & CIVIL is each 50 and of Pharmacy is 30.
Admissions through the merit obtained in POLYTECHNIC COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (POLYCET) conducted by STATE BOARD OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION & TRAINING (SBTET), Telangana State followed by Centralised Councelling.
Teaching in this institution has been digitalised and the lectures are given with the help of Power points and other documents using projectors and other teaching aids besides using traditional chalk board. The students take active part in learning at regular intervals through their seminars, projects and assignments.
Practical Knowledge is imparted into the students through the 15 well equipped Labs and 1 Drawing Hall available in the institution. The students are also given an opportunity for fieldwork through the industrial training in one of the semesters in 3rd year. The Library of this institution is self sufficient.
As a Residential College, this institution serves the students of North Telangana region covering Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. The Hostel has two separate building/blocks and accommodates 250 students. The students are provided with quality food and safe environment with staff attending to them round the clock. Purified drinking water is provided and a water supply is available 24 hours for regular usage.
