The Govt. Polytechnic, Vikarabad is undoubtedly a modern temple of learning.  It is located at Kompalli village near Vikarabad.  The institution provides a serene and tranquil environment to the students boosting the mental potential and preparing them in all aspects to face the cut-throat competition with a smile on the face and emerge victorious. Govt. Polytechnic, Vikarabad was formed in the year 2008 by the Department of Technical Education, Government of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh with the aim of providing quality professional education to the students of Ranga Reddy and other Districts of the Telangana State. With a history stretching back to just seven years, it has grown into an institution to reckon with in the field of technical education.  Having realized the importance of Vikarabad town (which is declared as the satellite city) the Govt. of India sanctioned Rs. 12.3 Cores for the construction and development of the Polytechnic under MHRD scheme. The college started functioning in July 2008 in the premises of Shivareddypet, near Vikarabad with two courses offered in Civil and Electrical & Electronic courses. The institution continues shifted to the new premises situated at Kompalli village near Vikarabad, Vikarabad Dist. in the academic year 2014.

The vision of this Diploma institution is to achieve excellence in engineering and professional courses by imparting core values to the learners and to mould the institution into a centre of academic excellence.The students are admitted through the state-wide POLYCET which is conducted every year by SBTET generally in the month of May.


Civil Engineering Department

The department has ample of place for accommodating the laboratories like Surveying, Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Machinery, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Concrete & Highway materials. The department is manned by a highly experienced faculty who has rich experience in teaching. All the labs are established with the aid of MHRD.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department

The faculty of this branch maintains close relation with the students and pay individual attention.  Students are given deep exposure in their fields of study with a career orientation.The department is manned by a highly experienced faculty who have rich experience in teaching.The department is in keeping with the objectives of the institute, emphasizes discipline, and encourages the involvement of the faculty in the development. All the labs are established with the aid of MHRD.

Electronics and Communication Engineering Department.

Diploma course in ECE is introduced in the year 2019. The faculty of ECE have rich experience in the academia and this Department is attracting the best and meritorious students through POLYCET. The Department is privileged to have establish all the Laboratories with adequate number of all the equipment well before start of the course. Wonderful labs are established which include Electronic Devices Lab, Communication Lab, Digital Electronics & Microcontrollers Lab and Computer Lab. The Department has spacious class rooms including e-class room with required number of Computers and Projectors. 

Campus:The whole campus consists of 8 acres of land which includes Main and Hostel buildings.The main building has a total of 4 blocks,which accommodates the Electrical & Electronics Engg, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engg, Library and Physical Education (Sports).

GPT, Vikarabad has a playground which is used for various outdoor games.


It is reputed for its technically legit faculty and a pulsating student community.

Extra-curricular activities

There is a playground which helps the students to practice outdoor games. The college conducts various sports and games events every year in the college. It provides opportunities to the students in games like   volleyball, chess, and cricket.

Student activities:

 The literary committee is very active and provides a big platform to expose all the talents and give equal opportunities to all the students to bring up their skills in every creative perspective. Every year literary competitions are held and prizes are distributed at the annual day function. The College has a hostel building for boys which can accommodate 140 students at new premises. The Parent-teacher meeting is held twice a year to maintain harmonious relationship between parents and teachers for the betterment of the students.


It is the matter of great privilege to be a part of GPT Vikarabad which is likely to meet the needs of the students in various ways.

We believe it is important to impart education to students with integrated approach so that they can successfully shape their career and be good citizens of the nation.

The management and staff of government polytechnic Vikarabad are committed to quality education and lay special emphasis on both Co curricular and curricular activities providing the students an edge over others to be a leader in their respective field of activity.


·          The Students are encouraged to do Need based projects/Real Time Projects which practically are useful in rural areas.

·          The Students are motivated to design new modules which are helpful for the Institution and themselves.


·          We organize the cultural events and competitions which brings out the students cultural talents and provide a platform for the students to showcase their talents.

·          We encourage the students to show their talents in different domains and forms of art such as singing, dancing, mimicry etc

·          It is a regular platform for staging various social and cultural events, thereby inducing national integrity and pride amongst compatriots.
